バッハ・オルガン曲の深遠なる美の世界
初めて買ったオルガンのＣＤ。
夜聴きながら寝るつもりで明かりを消し、プレイボタンを押した。
が、演奏が始まると、目が覚めるような美しい音色の連続で
気がついたら最後まで聴き終わっていた。
（うとうとしていて気がついたら拍手が・・というあれではない）
収録されている曲は、主にバッハ自身によるコラールの編曲で
あまり知られていないものが多いらしい。
白熱して人を巻き込まずにいない演奏、スリリングな演奏というわけではないが、退屈で眠くなることはないだろう。
それぞれの動きは優雅で美しく、調和している。次々に広がっていく、万華鏡のような音の世界に、つい引き込まれてしまうという感じだ。
そして最後の曲は「前奏曲とフーガ ホ短調 BWV533」
ひときわ美しく重厚な響きで幕は閉じられる。
レオンハルトから受けた衝撃をきっかけに、トーマス・シュメークナーのオルガンのコンサートに行き、トン・コープマンのバッハオルガン作品集を聴いたが、このＣＤを聴いたときほどの感動は味わえなかった。
もっとも、オルガン演奏の良さは多分に楽器の質に依存するらしい。
レオンハルトの使ったものが特に名器だったというのもあるかもしれない。
アルクマール聖ローレンス教会の、ハーヘルベール＝シュニットガー・オルガンという楽器である。
ところでこのＣＤを聴く時にはぜひ、部屋を暗くすることをおすすめしたい。
不思議なことに光がなくなると、音がより鮮明に聞こえてくるのである。
そして音と、音のない空白とのコントラストが際だって感じられる。
プレイボタンを押せば、バッハ・オルガン曲の一層深遠な美しさを楽しむことができるだろう。
